The challenge has been completed. It's been an interesting time watching to see how long my hair will grow and I'll admit that trying to do the Elsa thing was as scary as it was exciting. For the few days preceding the day, I was almost tempted to not do it, but there were friends out there that knew about it and I knew that some of them had been anticipating it for almost the whole year. So much for quitting.
The anticipation of everyone's reactions was nearly killing me, but as soon as I got myself out there, I was a hit, and fortunately, there were no other Elsa's around (with the exception of one little girl) to feel like it was too much. Everyone loved the dress and loved just as much my choice of shoes. I got comments about how I was able to succeed at getting the hair thickness. There was even someone who complimented me on my legs...um, well, I didn't really want that one, even if it did come from a friend.
I was amused once when a little girl was brought to me. She looked at me...looked and looked. She reached out her hand to me, but very tentatively like she wanted to, but didn't dare. Funny thing was that my hands were cold at the time, so when she did touch me, it probably shocked her to feel that my hands were cold. I picked her up and took a picture with her. She wandered off somewhere else, but apparently she'd been telling people at the other parts of the office that she'd seen Elsa and was excited about it. It was mentioned to me that she might have been nervous about touching me because she was afraid I was going to freeze her! LOL! That girl was just adorable and I love this story.
There were other children who saw me as well and got excited when they saw me, but they were rushed through a bit, so there was no big story there, though everyone thought it was cute to see them get so excited.
One other quick story: I was headed to the restroom and apparently someone else was following me intending to do the same thing. I beat her to it and nearly shut the door in her face, so what does she do? She knocks on the door and asks me if I want to build a snowman! We laughed about that the rest of the day.
I wasn't sure about doing this, because I knew it was popular and I generally don't like to do the most popular things, but it was fun. I got some good memories out of it and that's really what makes a day good.
